Wear layers of clothes

When you go cross country skiing, it’s important to dress in layers. That means not wearing just one big coat. It’s best to put on several things together. For example, wear thermal underwear and a shirt, then a fleece jacket and topped off with a windbreaker or shell. You move around a lot while cross country skiing. When you dress in layers, you can take stuff off to cool down. Likewise, if you get cold, you can put something on to warm up.

Kids can go fast or go slow

Cross country skiing can be a quiet day in the forest or it can be an exciting day of competition. Lots of kids enjoy racing on cross country skis. Once you learn how to cross country ski (and it’s really easy to learn), see how fast you can go! Or if you just like skiing at your own pace, that’s cool too. With cross country, you can go as fast or as slow as you like!

Skiing and snowboarding are both a lot of fun! Did you go skiing or snowboarding this winter?
